UK CBT Launches to Help Position the UK as Global Leader in Blockchain

London, UK — 5th September 2023.

The UK Centre for Blockchain Technologies (UK CBT) has officially launched, marking a significant stride in positioning the UK as a worldwide epicentre for blockchain innovation and knowledge. Positioned as the UK’s premier national hub in blockchain research, the UK CBT is committed to driving the development and adoption of blockchain technologies, underpinned by its core values of innovation, collaboration, transparency, trust, and impact.

Solid collaboration between Academia and Industry

Thanks to its active engagement with esteemed academic institutions – including University College London, the University of Edinburgh, and the University of Birmingham – and the support of notable industry leaders such as the DLT Science Foundation, Hedera, Ripple and the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, the UK CBT is poised to make significant strides in blockchain education, research, and innovation. Ripple's University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) is a prime supporter, amplifying the centre’s mission to propel blockchain adoption throughout the UK.

A Visionary Approach

Founded by blockchain luminaries Paolo Tasca and Nikhil Vadgama, the UK CBT aims to champion a cohesive national agenda and advocate at the highest levels of government. Paolo Tasca, with his deep roots in establishing key blockchain entities worldwide - such as the UCL Centre for Blockchain Technologies and the Hedera-funded DLT Science Foundation - together with Nikhil Vadgama, a stalwart in web3 and emerging technologies, are uniting the best of academia, industry, and government stakeholders.

"At UK CBT, our ambition is clear. We aim to be the beacon of excellence, bringing together the brightest minds, the most innovative businesses, and forward-thinking government stakeholders across the entire UK to shape the country's blockchain future," said Dr. Paolo Tasca.

Shaping the Future

The centre offers cutting-edge resources, knowledge, and a vast network to facilitate partnerships, bridging the gap between blockchain research and its real-world application. UK CBT's initiatives are poised to equip stakeholders with essential skills, knowledge, and opportunities in the rapidly evolving blockchain landscape.
