In a demonstration of global enthusiasm for blockchain technology, the “Oracle Hacks!” hackathon, hosted by the DLT Science Foundation on HackerEarth, delivered massive interest and innovation. DSF held the two-stage online hackathon to build proof-of-concepts on Hedera that leverage Oracles.
The online hackathon lasted over one month, featuring several workshops to encourage participants to build on Hedera and iterate their novel solutions. Partners including Swirlds Labs, Arkhia, and HackerEarth supported the hackathon.
The first stage consisted of learning about Hedera and submitting ideas. Participants who submitted successful ideas deemed interesting and eligible were then given further support for the second stage.
Three prizes were up for grabs for the winners, with a total prize pool of USD 25,000.
Surpassing Expectations
With an original target of 500 registrations, “Oracle Hacks!” shattered this figure, attracting 2137 participants in just 16 days – more than four times the anticipated number and a rate 275% above the benchmark. This underscores the hackathon’s appeal and resonance with the global developer community. The hackathon saw diverse international participation, with registrants from 44 countries.
Sessions within the hackathon featured speakers such as Brendan Graetz and Abi Castro from Swirlds Labs and Daniel Costa from Arkhia.
