About the Speakers:

Dr Filippo Zatti serves as an Associate Professor, and Dr Rosa Giovanna Barresi as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florence, Italy. Both are distinguished scholars in the field of digital finance, focusing on the legal and economic implications of digital currencies. Their work critically examines the transformative potential of digital currencies, balancing between the promise of revolutionising global finance and the risks of complicating existing legal, economic, and societal frameworks.

Abstract:

This lecture delves into themes explored in the book "Digital Assets and the Law: Fiat Money in the Era of Digital Currency". It questions whether the advent of digital currencies represents a forward leap for global finance or an involution. The session offers an in-depth analysis of the impact of digital currencies on traditional monetary systems and the legal challenges they introduce, providing insights for scholars and practitioners at the forefront of digital finance.
